San Diego Democratic Club 25th Anniversary Speech: Gloria Johnson

Video:

Description: The San Diego Democratic Club (now San Diego Democrats for Equality) was founded in 1975, one of the earliest LGBT organizations in the area. It was one of very few political and social outlets for the community at the time, with many meetings held in secret due to members’ fears of being outed in public. The club has grown to be very active in regional and statewide political activities, and their endorsement is highly sought by political candidates in San Diego. This tape has a speech by one of the club’s former presidents, Gloria Johnson, who was deeply involved in local activism till her death in 2013.
